Should I learn from SCJP 6 book (K. Sierra)? [on hold]
I have about 5 months of experience in JAVA so I decided that I need to go
deeper.
I do not want to passing any exams. I need a bible of JAVA for
intermediate or professional programmers because I hate learning from
books which started from "Hello world", so I've found SCJP book by Sierra
but it's from 2008 and JAVA 6. I know that not much has changed but this
is kind of disadvantage, no doubt about it.
Next I've found Oracle Certified Assosiate, Java SE 7 Programmer Study
Guide by Richard M. Reese. It's from 2012 - that's great - but firstly, I
don't think I can call it "a bible" because it has only 300 pages and
secondly I think there is lack of some important topics, like threads.
Lastly, I've found OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I Study Guide by R. Liguori
and E. Finegan and I don't know what should I think about it. It has about
800 pages but it's too much accurate. It's from 2013 so I can be sure that
it contains latest informations.
So, what should I do? Which to choose? Do you have own opinion about books
I mentioned? Do you know other books? Please, tell something about them.
